“Flor amorosa” was composed by Joaquim Callado in the last year of his life, 1880, when he died prematurely, at the age of 31. At the time, the composer and flautist was recognized as the most important figure of the choro scene, that was just starting. “Flor amorosa” was his last known composition, having been published just after his death, with lyrics by Catulo da Paixão Cearense. It is probably his most famous music. This version for Callado’s polka, without Catulo’s lyrics, was recorded in April 2019, based on a two-voice arrangement of mine.

A polca “Flor amorosa” foi composta por Joaquim Callado em 1880, o mesmo ano de sua morte, aos 31. O compositor e flautista já era então reverenciado como a figura mais importante da cena do choro, que estava surgindo. Flor amorosa é considerada sua última composição. A publicação dela, com versos de Catulo da Paixão Cearense, se deu logo após a sua morte, e ela é hoje um clássico incontroverso do chorinho. Esta é uma versão minha extremamente eletrônica da polca de Callado (sem a letra de Catulo), que gravei em abril de 2019, a partir de um arranjo meu a duas vozes.
